30-yard dumpster rental in Yorktown, Bowie MD.
22 ft × 8 ft × 6 ft · holds about 14 pickup-truck loads. Serving Yorktown — Mid-to-late-1960s Levitt Y-section.
When a Yorktown job is big enough that a smaller bin would only buy you a second haul, the 30-yard roll-off is the box you want on the driveway. It is one of the largest containers we run, and around here it earns the nickname the “commercial and demo” size — the one built for full tear-outs, contractor site debris, bulk waste, and multi-family cleanouts in a single drop and a single pickup. JP Roll-Off Service is a family-owned hauler, and Yorktown — the Levitt “Y-section” of Belair at Bowie, where the streets all start with the letter Y — is an easy run via Route 197 or the BW Parkway. That puts it comfortably inside our regular morning run, and most addresses here are scheduled within 24 hours — an early call may still make a same-day run.
What the 30-yard holds
The 30-yard measures roughly 22 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 6 feet tall. That long, tall box swallows about fourteen pickup-truck loads of material, which is why it is the go-to for jobs that throw off a steady wall of debris rather than a few bags at a time. Pricing is per material, so the cost depends on what you are throwing out — aggregates such as concrete, brick, and dirt are only offered in the 10, 15, and 20-yard sizes. Every 30-yard includes delivery, pickup on request, and a 14-day rental; additional days are available on request when you book, and heavy material such as concrete, dirt, brick and shingles is quoted separately because weight matters. Because it is priced by material, call for a quote, and we will schedule the pickup when you are ready.
One honest word on weight. The 30-yard fills its volume fastest with bulky, lighter material — framing lumber, drywall, old cabinetry, roofing tear-off, lath and plaster, furniture, and general construction debris. If your load leans heavy with concrete, brick, dirt, or tile, the cube fills slowly but the weight climbs fast — and because heavy debris like that is quoted separately by weight, the math turns against you quickly. Heavy aggregates like concrete, brick, and dirt are handled in our 10, 15, and 20-yard containers rather than the 30, so when you phone in, tell us what is going in and we will steer you to the right size before the truck rolls.
Why Yorktown jobs reach this size
Yorktown is one of the later Levitt sections of Belair at Bowie, built among the development’s final stages — roughly 1964 through the late 1960s — as part of the last detached single-family homes Levitt and Sons completed in Bowie. Those houses are now 55 to 60 years old, mostly medium-to-large three-to-five-bedroom homes running somewhere between about 1,500 and 2,800 square feet of living area, and they were sold in the familiar Levitt models — the Cape Cod, the Rancher, the Colonial, the Manor House, and the largest of them, the Country Clubber. After more than half a century, those original builds are reaching the age where the work gets ambitious, and that is exactly the work the 30-yard is made for:
- Full demolition. Gutting one of these Levitt homes down to the studs — pulling an original kitchen, taking out interior walls, clearing a finished basement, or removing a long-ago addition — throws off far more debris than most owners expect. The 30-yard keeps a demo crew moving without stopping to swap containers mid-job.
- Commercial site work. Contractor tear-outs and turnovers along the Race Track Road collector and the surrounding commercial edges produce a continuous stream of fixtures, flooring, ceiling material, and packaging. One large box keeps the dumpster off the critical path.
- Bulk waste hauls. Roof tear-offs and whole-house renovations on a 55-to-60-year-old home pile up fast — old shingles, sheathing, siding, and decades of accumulated material together. Fourteen truck-loads of capacity means you load once and we haul once.
- Multi-family cleanouts. When several units turn over at the same time — old appliances, carpet, mattresses, and tenant debris all at once — that is precisely the volume the 30-yard was built to absorb.
Yorktown is overwhelmingly owner-occupied, and a lot of these projects are the big once-in-a-generation kind: a full renovation of a long-held family home, a major addition, a complete roof tear-off, or an estate and downsizing cleanout when a house changes hands. For a single-room remodel or a routine garage clear-out, a smaller container is almost always the better fit. The 30-yard earns its keep when capacity, not budget, is the thing that would otherwise cost you a second trip.
Placement on Yorktown’s driveways
Here is where Yorktown is genuinely easy compared with a lot of the DMV. The section is almost entirely detached single-family housing — close to 99.8% free-standing homes — which means nearly every property has its own private driveway. Unlike Bowie’s newer townhome and HOA communities, Yorktown is original 1960s Levitt stock with no homeowners association, so staging a dumpster on your own driveway is governed by you and the city rather than by an architectural-control board waiting to sign off. The practical upshot for a 30-yard: we can almost always set the box on your driveway rather than out in the street.
That matters because of how the city handles permits. The City of Bowie requires a right-of-way permit only if the dumpster sits in a city street — driveways and HOA-approved staging do not. Because Yorktown is a no-HOA Levitt section, a driveway drop typically needs neither an association approval nor a city street permit, and a permit ends up being the exception rather than the rule. If your only workable spot turns out to be the public street, the city’s Public Works Department handles that right-of-way review; customers are responsible for determining whether a City of Bowie permit is required and obtaining it before delivery.
A 30-yard does ask for a longer, clearer run-up than the smaller sizes — it is a big box on a long frame, and the driver needs room to back the trailer in straight. On Yorktown’s single-family lots that usually works fine, but it is worth a look before we arrive. And because every street in the section starts with the letter Y — Yorktown Drive, Yarmouth Lane, Yellowstone Place, Youngwood Turn — telling us your exact street is the cleanest way to route the truck and trailer right the first time. If the approach is tight, sloped, or shares a curb cut with a neighbor, mention it when you book and we will plan the drop around it.
Talk to the family before you book
Because we are family-owned, the people who answer the phone are the owners — not a call center reading from a script. That means you can describe your Yorktown project — a full Levitt gut job, a roof tear-off, a contractor tear-out, a bulk haul, or a multi-unit cleanout — and get a straight answer on whether the 30-yard is the right size, what it will cost for your material, how the 14-day rental works, and exactly how we will set it on your driveway off one of the Y streets.
If you have a big job in Yorktown and a smaller bin would only mean a second haul, call JP Roll-Off Service at (301) 252-3586. We will get a 30-yard scheduled — usually within 24 hours, dispatched in the morning, and on your site about 25 minutes later.
