20-yard dumpster rental in Long Ridge, Bowie MD.
22 ft × 8 ft × 4 ft · holds about 9 pickup-truck loads. Serving Long Ridge — 1960s Levitt L-section, slightly larger lots.
Long Ridge is one of Bowie’s most distinctive Levitt sections, and the reason is hiding in plain sight on its street signs. Like every section of Belair at Bowie, Long Ridge follows the alliterative rule Levitt used to make the development navigable — here, every street name starts with the letter L, the marker locals use to know they have arrived in the section. But Long Ridge is unusual in a way that matters a great deal for a project dumpster: built around 1964–1965 as one of the latest “L” sections, it was constructed almost entirely with the Country Clubber, Levitt’s largest and most expensive Bowie model. There is no mix of small Ranchers and Capes here the way there is in the earlier sections. Long Ridge is a neighborhood of uniformly big, two-story Colonial homes on slightly larger lots, backing up toward Collington Road — and that single fact is what pushes most renovation work here toward the 20-yard roll-off.
We are JP Roll-Off Service, a family-owned hauler, and Long Ridge is an easy run for us by way of Route 197 or the BW Parkway. When you call, you reach the family that owns the trucks — not a call center, not a dispatcher reading from a script.
What fits in a 20-yard dumpster
The 20-yard measures 22 ft long by 8 ft wide by 4 ft tall and holds roughly nine pickup-truck loads of debris. Pricing is per material — priced by what you are throwing away, so call for a quote (aggregates like concrete, dirt, and brick are accepted only in the 10, 15, and 20-yard sizes). Every rental includes delivery, pickup on request, and a 14-day rental; additional days are available on request when you book, and dense or heavy materials such as concrete, dirt, brick, and shingles are quoted separately because weight matters. Pickup is on request, so just call to schedule the haul-away when you are ready.
The four-foot walls are low enough that you can walk debris up and toss it over the side without a ramp, while the full twenty-two-foot length swallows the volume of a genuine project. That balance is why the 20-yard sits in the sweet spot for Long Ridge homes: bigger than a quick-cleanup 10 or 15-yard, but short of the 30-yard that mostly makes sense for gut-to-the-studs jobs or full structural demo. It is one of our most versatile sizes — and one customers rarely regret.
Why the 20-yard fits Long Ridge specifically
Because Long Ridge was built out entirely with the Country Clubber, the renovation work tends to come in larger, more uniform jobs than you see in Bowie’s modest-Rancher sections. The Country Clubber was the premium model — a two-story Colonial that later came in five-bedroom configurations and originally topped out around $24,900 when these homes were new. Sixty years on, those big floor plans generate big debris volumes when owners modernize, and the 20-yard is built precisely for that scale.
Here are the jobs that come up again and again on the L-named streets:
- Whole-house cleanouts. This is the 20-yard’s best-known role — it is even nicknamed the “whole-house cleanout” size. Clearing a Country Clubber between owners, or after a longtime family finally moves on, fills a 20-yard about right without paying for space you will not use.
- Multi-room remodels. A kitchen-and-baths gut, or a run of bedrooms getting new flooring and drywall, is the classic 20-yard job in a home this size. Country Clubbers also famously came with an expandable, unfinished attic, and finishing that space into a bedroom, office, or beam-lined loft is one of the signature Long Ridge projects — the drywall, insulation, and framing scrap from an attic conversion lands squarely in 20-yard territory.
- Estate cleanouts. Long Ridge has held many of the same families for decades. When one of those longtime homes changes hands, the 20-yard handles furniture, boxes, and a full house of accumulation in a single container.
- Mid-size roofing tear-offs. Country Clubbers were built with a flat, low-slope rear dormer originally finished with roll roofing — a section that wears out faster than the main pitched roof. On homes now roughly 60 years old, tear-offs that replace both the main roof and that failure-prone low-slope dormer are common, and that heavy shingle-and-roll-roofing debris is exactly the kind of load to mention when you call, since weight matters.
If your project is smaller — a single bath, a garage purge, a few rooms of flooring — a 15-yard may serve you better. If you are taking a Country Clubber down to the studs and adding on, we will talk through whether a 30 earns its keep. Tell us the address and the scope and we will steer you straight; we would rather size it right than oversell you.
Placement, permits, and the Long Ridge advantage
Driveway placement. This is where Long Ridge has a real built-in advantage. Because the section was built with the larger Country Clubber on slightly larger lots than the typical Levitt Bowie section, most properties have wider frontage and a driveway that can comfortably take a container on private property. A 20-yard needs roughly 22 feet of straight length, a few feet of side clearance, and an open swing for the rear door — and most Long Ridge driveways have that to spare. Roll-off dumpsters and delivery trucks are heavy and may damage some surfaces, so protecting the driveway or placement area before delivery is the customer’s responsibility. If you’re unsure about placement, call our office before scheduling.
The Bowie permit rule. The City of Bowie requires a right-of-way permit only if the dumpster sits in a city street. Driveways and HOA-approved staging do not. Because Long Ridge’s bigger lots and driveways usually let us stage on your own property, a city street permit tends to be the exception here rather than the rule — most projects in the section need no permit at all. If the only workable spot turns out to be the street, that permit runs through the City of Bowie Department of Public Works on Annapolis Road; customers are responsible for determining whether a permit is required and obtaining it before delivery.
Drive time. We dispatch every morning by Route 197 or the BW Parkway. Long Ridge sits on the eastern edge of the Levitt development, toward Collington Road, in ZIP 20715 — and we know exactly where those L streets are. Most Long Ridge addresses are scheduled within 24 hours, and an early call may still make a same-day run.
Talk to the family that runs the trucks
Call (301) 252-3586 and you reach the people who actually own and operate JP Roll-Off. Tell us your Long Ridge address and what you are tackling — an attic conversion in a Country Clubber, a whole-house cleanout on one of the L streets, an estate clear-out, or a roof tear-off that includes that low-slope rear dormer — and we will confirm the 20-yard is the right size and quote you on the spot.
